Jack Grealish has told Sky Sports that his Aston Villa teammate Ollie Watkins asks him about Tottenham striker Harry Kane in order to improve his own game.

Aston Villa’s boyhood fan has shared the international stage with Tottenham’s very own boyhood fan where their talents have mixed and will continue to do so during these coming years.

Watkins, who joined Villa in the summer for a fee of £28 million [BBC Sport], has made a strong start to life in England’s top-flight, including scoring a hat-trick against Liverpool.

Given that Grealish is blessed to play alongside so many talented players for his country, he shared that Watkins has asked what makes someone like Kane ‘so good’.

“I think it’s always hard for a striker to come in from the Championship,” said Grealish. “People look at you and say ‘oh, he has only done it in the Championship’.

“It’s a big step-up. We have seen a lot of strikers over the years do well and they have come up to the Premier League and they couldn’t cut it. But Ollie’s completely different to that. He works so hard on the training field.

“He is always asking me questions about other strikers that I play with at England. The likes of Harry Kane. Asking me what he does and what makes his so good. And he’s so desperate to improve which is, of course, a good sign.”

In truth, if there is a striker that Watkins wants to emulate his game on then there isn’t a better forward in world football to choose from than Kane.

He is probably the most complete striker in Europe right now, with the sharp-shooter also adding pin-point precision passer to his armoury.

If Watkins can reach the 20 goal mark, or even go beyond it this season, then he may just find that he will be able to learn first hand about how good Kane is because then that call from Gareth Southgate will come.
