Despite the weather, the Honda S2000 is the wet dream of many car enthusiasts. If its commercial success was not more brilliant, it was due to the fact that at the beginning its production was measured to the millimeter. This has caused that today the few units that are available in the second-hand market are highly valued. Not in vain from time to time rumors arise that suggest that he could return to fulfill our wishes.

This situation has been repeated since the Honda S2000 left the market in 2009. The last time we had news of its resurrection was about three years ago. Then it was said that the design team and engineers of the brand were with its development. What's more, a series of sketches and images came to light that seemed to give credibility to this fact. Now, after seeing that it was not like that, the rumors return to the load. Will they be true this time ...?

This "resurrected" Honda S2000 would share an engine with the next Civic Type R

The one in charge of "raising the hare" this time has been Forbes. According to this publication, a source close to Honda would have announced that they would be considering resuscitating him. In fact, they suggest that the marketing department would be carrying out the necessary market studies to find out if customers would be receptive to their return. But there is more because they suggest that it could arrive in the year 2024 to celebrate its 25 years of history.

If all this data has encouraged you, this anonymous source has also counted other pearls to Forbes. Apparently, the report they handle indicates that this hypothetical Honda S2000 would have an exterior size very similar to that of the previous one. That is, its wingspan was wanted in the environment of 4 to 4.20 meters. Regarding its technique, its engineers would make massive use of aluminum and carbon fiber for the chassis and body.

The reason is simple: contain the weight to reduce emissions. Finally, we will address one of the "pearls" that Forbes advertises through its sources. Apparently, this Honda S2000 would adopt the 2.0-liter turbo block that gives life to the Civic Type R. This idea goes against the original precept of the S2000 since its engine was a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated. In addition, engineers would have to adapt the Type R block to a longitudinal arrangement.

However, these data must be taken with a grain of salt and a lot of skepticism. This is due to a few words that the CEO of Honda offered in the year 2017. At that time he confirmed that it was not the best time to bring the S2000 back to life. The reason? Customers' purchase intent does not revolve around this market segment. Of course, three years have passed of that and perhaps they have changed their minds.
