Maradona could have his street after Frente de Todos presented today in the Buenos Aires Legislature a project to replace the name of a section of Boyacá and Punta Arenas streets.

The tributes to Diego Maradona these days are continuous, like that of Messi in the win against Osasuna. The Frente de Todos (FdT) presented today in the Buenos Aires Legislature a project to replace the name of a section of Boyacá and Punta Arenas streets with that of "Diego Armando Maradona" and the creation of a "tourist, sports and cultural circuit" to the open sky, which serves to pay tribute to the soccer star, in the neighborhoods of Villa General Miter and La Paternal.

The initiative, suggested by the Asociación Atlética Argentinos Juniors (AAAJ), the sports institution where Maradona made his debut at age 15, proposes changing the urban nomenclature to form a corridor that connects the Argentinos Juniors "Diego Armando Maradona" stadium and the Malvinas Argentinas Covered Microstadium.

For this, he proposes to name "Diego Armando Maradona" the current layout of Boyacá, between Juan B. Justo and Álvarez Jonte; and Punta Arenas, from Álvarez Jonte to Del Campo, totaling about 30 blocks that cross the Villa General Miter and La Paternal neighborhoods.

The statement about the project for Maradona Street
"In the constant will of our block to deepen the identity of each of our neighborhoods, we share with the AAJJ that the proposed route is the most identitary of the enormous honored figure and we intend to make this a tourist, sports and cultural excursion", The legislators of the Frente de Todos indicated in their proposal.

They specified that the idea is that this circuit that will extend for more than 30 blocks becomes a site of "a permanent tribute in the place where Maradona was born as a footballer" and a "world reference point" that he remembers to the international idol who passed away on November 25 at the age of 60.

He proposes that, there, national and international sports entities may place "symbols, small sculptures, plaques with writings and other symbolic elements" and thus achieve a space "where the most varied sports institutions and the millions of Maradona admirers can render their deserved tribute".

On the other hand, the project asks, for the approval of the initiative, that it be exempted from the scope of Laws 83 and 1206, which establish that for the designation of streets in the City with names of people, at least ten years of the death of the honoree.

"Because it is an unprecedented and unrepeatable situation in our history as well as to honor an Argentine idol of all time and beyond any party position to show the pride that he belongs to us as Argentines and in what fits as Buenos Aires, we estimate that the worldwide significance of the figure of Diego Armando Maradona justifies and merits the exception, "they assured.

"Such a figure of world historical significance should be honored in this way. The present project aims to give this athlete and essential human being in the life of all Argentines the space he deserves in our City, the City that he saw him grow up sportily, "they insisted.
