FNX Magokiler Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 As reported by the body that ensures safety on US roads, there is a history that could account for a failure in the front suspension. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported on Friday that it launched an investigation into 115,000 Tesla vehicles for problems related to the front suspension. The agency said it would open a preliminary evaluation on the 2015-2017 Model S and 2016 and 2017 Model X, after receiving 43 complaints alleging faults in the left and right front suspension parts of the cars. In February 2017, Tesla issued a service bulletin describing a manufacturing issue that could lead to front suspension failure, NHTSA said. Other models under review The problems in the quality of Tesla cars do not stop there, since this week it was known that the company co-founded by Elon Musk called for review about 9,500 vehicles in the United States to repair two defects detected and that are related to a problem with a roof molding on the Model X and another with screws in the front suspension of the Model Y. The largest recall is 9,136 Model X units, produced between September 2015 and July 2016. According to documents filed with NHTSA, part of a molding located on the roof of the Model X units, just behind the windshield, it may not have been properly pasted. The problem can cause that "over time, the adhesion can weaken, causing separation from the vehicle." ´ Affected vehicles will be inspected by Tesla to determine if each vehicle's trim has the proper glue. The second defect affects 401 Model Y units produced between August and November of this year. The problem is that the arm clamp bolts "may not have been tightened to specification" which can cause the arm to separate and affect the ability to steer the vehicle. Poor rating The quality issues with modern Tesla cars aren't new. Without going any further, in its latest evaluation Consumer Reports ranked the manufacturer as the electric car company that is rated the worst, occupying the penultimate position of the general ranking, also ensuring that the Tesla Model S and Model X "have had more continuous problems" . In fact, the Model S is among the ten least reliable cars. Only its smallest and most affordable model, the Tesla Model 3, has been rated reliable and recommended by Consumer Reports.
