It is well known that car brands carry out countless concept cars or design studies that for one reason or another never come to light and remain anonymous, often for life.

Who did not want to be left with the desire to remove the design studies carried out in recent years from the trunk, it was Porsche that decided to make them known to the world.

Under the name "Porsche Unseen" (Hidden Porsche), the collection of design studies created between 2005 and 2019, contains a total of 15 interpretations of 15 different models.

Thus, the first studies cover the segments "Spin-offs" (Derivatives ")," Little rebels "(" Little rebels ")," Hyper cars "and" What 's next? " ('What's next?').

In this way, Porsche offers a unique insight into its design process: from the first sketch to the finished model, ready for series production.

From the first drawing to the life-size prototype
The design process begins with a sketch. In the next step, it is displayed as a 3D model. Later, when an idea is further developed, the experts produce small 1: 3 scale models, followed by solid 1: 1 scale models that are just static.

Unlike in a production vehicle, for which several proposals with different style formats are always developed, these studies focus on a single model that serves as the protagonist for the central idea.

More than 120 designers, interior, exterior, color and material experts, model builders, modelers and studio engineers work in the Porsche Design department.

Design studies

Regarding the concept cars that are developed, the ultimate goal is not for everyone to hit the road, but to establish a creative space and a projection towards the future.

Based on this idea, Porsche develops its cars and its brand identity, ensuring the appearance of all models of the future.

In this way, the design language of the next models is defined from a long-term vision. In this process, the goal is to combine Porsche's design DNA with high engineering.

On the one hand, this ensures the innovative capacity of the future vehicles of the brand and, on the other, it also provides an evolutionary reference to the incredible history of Porsche.

Porsche 919 Street

Imagine a Porsche 919 Hybrid on the road. It quickly reminds us of those GT1 homologation prototypes, but for the modern era. Beneath the outer shell is the carbon monocoque and the powerful 900-hp hybrid powertrain, which helped the Porsche 919 to numerous victories at Le Mans. The dimensions and the wheelbase were also the same as on the racing car.
