The American manufacturer Ford will unveil its first fully electric mass-produced van called E-Transit on Thursday. The zero emissions will be revealed days after the company announced the investment of 100 million dollars in the assembly plant in Kansas (USA) to produce the new vehicle. The transformation of the facilities forms an even greater investment of 11,500 million dollars for the production of electric or hybrid models and in this specific case will also create 150 jobs and allow the production of the E-Transit by the end of 2021.

"We are taking our most iconic vehicles and using all-electric technology to produce even more performance, productivity and capacity for our customers," said Kumar Galhotra, Ford president for the Americas and International Markets Group, in a statement. E-Transit is the electric version of the po[CENSORED]r Transit van, America's best-selling commercial combustion engine van. Ford President and CEO Jim Farley has called E-Transit a key vehicle for the company.

Galhotra also explained that "Ford's strategy is different. We are producing affordable and capable electric vehicles in the heart of the consumer and commercial market" rather than high-end vehicles. Ford also said it will invest $ 150 million to produce electric motors and electric traverse shafts at the Van Dkye transmission plant, which will allow the facility to retain 225 jobs. These components will be used in Ford's new electric vehicles, including the electric version of the F-150 EV truck that will be marketed in mid-2022. Precisely, Ford indicated that it plans to increase the production of the F-150 EV by 50% before the strong demand.

In December, the first units of the new Mustang Mach-E, an electric off-road SUV with which Ford wants to compete with Tesla, are expected to arrive in dealerships.

The vehicle, based on the platform of the classic Mustang sports car, has a starting price of 43,895 dollars (just over 33 million Chilean pesos) in its basic version, called Select. The Premium version starts at $ 50,600, while the California RT.1 Edition will cost $ 52,400. The two most expensive versions of the Mustang Mach-E are First Edition, $ 59,900, and GT, with a base price of $ 60,500 (more than 45 million pesos). The Mustang Mach-E has a range of 480 kilometers with the most powerful battery and depending on the version, its traction will be rear or four wheels. The maximum power of the vehicle will be 332 horses except for the GT version which increases to 459 horses. The standard version of the Mustang Mach-E battery will provide 75.7 kilowatt hours while the extended range battery increases the figure to 98.8 kilowatt hours.
