Rubén Castro, goal man, at the moment, for Cartagena. What are your feelings in these first 10 games?
The sensations are better impossible. The first thing the team is very good. Honestly, we did not think that we were going to start in this exciting way, but I think that with the work of all we have achieved it and surely we will continue to expand this good start. I'm scoring goals, I feel very good in the team and for now, I can't ask for much more.

After a career with so many goals, so many games behind him, at 39 years old ... what is your secret to the excellent form in which you are right now?
The secret is to train every day, try not to miss any training to be at the top like all my teammates and then never lose the illusion of wanting to play soccer and I think that is what is taking me at my 39 years to continue enjoying of this sport.

He is considered, and with good reason, a legend of Spanish football. Where do you think your limit can go? How many more years can we enjoy the goals of Rubén Castro?
Well right now I don't know. I can tell you how I am now. The truth is that I'm scoring goals, I'm playing almost every minute, I look good, both mentally and physically. Next year I don't know what will happen, here I have a year with Cartagena and in principle, the objective is clear, it is to have a good year, that the team be saved, that I get the maximum possible goals, and later, once that is achieved, it will be seen.

Talking about the current season. He has already scored seven goals, practically consecutive: Leganés, Fuenlabrada, Almería, Las Palmas, Girona and Albacete ... Is it time to score this Saturday against Logroñés?
(Laughs) Hopefully so! As you well say, I have already scored a goal for five consecutive games, that is not normal, I am aware that one day that streak will have to be cut, but hey, I will try to extend it as long as possible. On Saturday against UD Logroñés I have another chance, and if the coach considers it appropriate that I have to play, I will give my best to try to score. As I tell you, whenever I go out on the pitch it is to score a goal, and to help the team, which is the best I can do.

Have you set a clear goal goal for the season?

(New laughs) Well, when I came here, I set myself that goal, and what I always say, I try to surpass the previous year. For example, at UD Las Palmas, in the two years I was there, I scored fifteen goals. When I arrived in Cartagena, I promised that I wanted to exceed that mark, and I believe that we are on the right track.

Has the initiation you are signing come as a surprise to yourselves?
I think a little yes. Not us alone, but everyone, the fans, the rivals. A recently promoted Second B team that started so well may surprise us a bit, but hey, I trust the team a lot, we are doing things well, actually quite well, and if Cartagena is in where it is is on its own merits. What we do have clear is that we have to continue like this, we have to work hard, because we have not achieved anything yet, and continue in this line that I think is the good one.

With your extensive experience in elite football ...

Do you think the team has the necessary tools to settle for several seasons in La Liga SmartBank?
Yes, as I told you, I trust the team a lot. We are clear that the objective this year is to try to achieve permanence as soon as possible, and I think we are on the right track. I believe that little by little the club will grow, and everything happens to achieve permanence this year.

Do Cartagena people have the license to dream of something more than just permanence? Is the squad satisfied with reaching 53-54 points?
That is first. The first thing we all have to think about is to achieve that goal of points which is 50-53 points, and then we will see, but we are all aware that the goal this year is permanence. That we can get it as soon as possible and there are many points left to look at other things? Well, welcome. But, in principle, we all know that what we have to do is achieve permanence as soon as possible. And that is, right now, our goal.

To finish ... are you challenging yourself to get the scoring record in Second, held by Nino, and to be the oldest player to continue scoring?
Well, I don't look so much at the records I can get. I don't know how many goals it takes me or how much it doesn't take me. What I do want is to achieve that mark that I promised when I arrived, which is 15 goals. And I think I'm on the right track. I believe that this year, hopefully, I can achieve it for the good of all. But I don't usually look at those records, I still don't know how many goals it takes me, or it doesn't take me, but hey, I think who else will goal this year, the closer it will be to achieving it.

Any special message you want to convey to the fans?
Since they can't see us in the Stadium, let them know that the team is giving everything in every match, that, even if they are not in Cartagonova, we have a lot to thank them for, and we are sure that the team will continue as well. .
