#Steeven.™ Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 The official presentation of the third generation of the Toyota Highlander marked a before and after in the existence of this all road. The first two deliveries did not reach the European continent, but with the third they would make the leap. The reason that prompted those responsible for the model to take this big step is very simple and has to do with two reasons. The first is the expansion of SUVs in the market and the second with the need to complement its range to avoid the flight of customers to other firms. The leap in quality and technology compared to its predecessors is really important, although it is most appreciated in its appearance. However, its technical development took place with the intention of maintaining the high reliability and security of the Japanese firm. Well, when a few weeks have passed since the start of the Toyota Highlander sale, some problems have arisen. Specifically, they have to do with the deployment of its airbags and no, it is not a situation inherited from the scandal caused by Takata. In this generation the Toyota Highlander will have a global vocation Well, Toyota has announced that the 2020 Highlander has a design flaw. In particular, it affects the side airbags of the front seats. Apparently an incorrect piece of upholstery was installed on the front passenger seat in the assembly process. This part, which could also be on the driver's seat, can prevent the airbag from deploying in the event of an accident. If so, the risk of injury from the impact would be greater than if it works well. At this time, Toyota is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem. In fact, it announces that the number of units with this possible problem is very small, since its sale has started recently. Specifically, they estimate that the volume of affected Highlander's would be around 3,500. For now, this recall is limited to the United States, since its commercialization has not yet started in other areas of the world, such as Europe. Toyota will notify owners of the problem so they can approach the commercial network. The dealerships will be responsible for inspecting the front seats and replacing the seat covers as needed. In any case, they will always be free of charge to the client. Finally, Toyota is expected to start the withdrawal on December 13, 2020. 4
