Manchester United will be without Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani for the Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed at his pre-match press conference in Paris on Monday evening that the trio had no travelled with the rest of the squad.

Eric Bailly and Jesse Lingard are also missing for United, who return to the site of their famous 3-1 comeback victory over PSG in the last-16 two seasons ago.

“We've lost a couple,” Solskjaer admitted. "We're a little bit depleted but we've got more than enough players.

"We hope the players won't be away for too long. Edinson needs a few more days training before we can say on the weekend. Hopefully Harry, Mason and Eric too but we're not sure about that."
Greenwood was pictured training at Carrington on Monday morning, having missed Saturday’s 4-1 win away at Newcastle United.

Solskjaer refused to give specific details on Greenwood’s injury. “I can't declare medical stuff, can I? We hope it's just a niggle and we don't want to take any chances with him," he said. "Hopefully at the weekend it'll be fine again.”

The United manager denied that Greenwood and Brandon Williams were left out of the trip to St James’ Park due to disciplinary reasons.
Bruno Fernandes will captain United against PSG in Maguire’s absence. “I was not expecting this, for me it's an honour," the United playmaker said.

“I will be captain for my teammates and be captain of Manchester United is an important achievement for me but I think everyone is the captain, everyone needs to help and be a leader in their own way.”
