This Might Be the World's Cleanest 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Subaru Impreza WRX STIs are great cars. They're stout, capable, rally-inspired enthusiast cars that offer a driving experience not quite like anything else. Sadly, though, their capability and approachability mean that most used early STIs have been thrashed on. They're often ratty, rusted, and beyond repair. But this example for sale on Bring a Trailer, showing under 11,000 miles, is as pristine as one can be.

It looks like the cleanest 2005
WRX STI in the world. You wouldn't know it was ever driven off the lot, with its glossy (paint-protected) sheen and undisturbed interior. It's a Canadian-market example, so the odometer is in kilometers, but it doesn't look like it's ever seen a harsh Northern winter.

Power comes from a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four in the great tradition of STIs. Shifting is handled by a six-speed manual transmission, with the all-wheel-drive system's torque split manually controlled by the driver. Total output is 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, just 10 hp shy of the 2020 model but with 10 lb-ft more of torque. It won't feel slow.

I also appreciate the black-over-blue spec of this example. Nothing can quite beat World Rally Blue with gold wheels on an STI, but a clean black example with shining alloy wheels looks more reserved and conventionally handsome. The blue interior, though, adds some flair. It's about as good as one of these gets. Question is, as the auction rapidly passes $20,000 and will likely end far north of there, would you pay new STI money for an old one?
