At the level of habitability, no significant losses are expected, although the height of the set with the hood on is 1.38 meters. The quality of materials and execution as well as the possibilities of equipment remain at the same level as the 4 Series Coupé.

 

Powerful mechanical and micro hybrid offering, living up to its status

On a technical level, the chassis of the BMW 4 Series Convertible includes several reinforcements so that the torsional rigidity of the set is not diminished by the lack of the roof. To improve ride comfort, the M sports suspension and an adaptive one with electronically controlled springs will also be available. In addition, variable-ratio steering is also among the optional equipment available.

As for the mechanics that make up its range, the choice is shared with its brother Coupé. The light hybridization with a 48-volt electrical network will be in the diesel versions and the top of the range M440i xDrive. Thanks to this solution, the Series 4 Cabrio is worthy of the Eco sticker from the DGT. In this way, it will be a little easier when accessing the city centers when the protocols for high pollution are activated.

All versions are managed through an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. For those looking for more sportiness, it can optionally incorporate shift paddles and the Launch Control function. The power of the different engines can reach the ground through the rear axle or all four wheels. For this, it incorporates the xDrive system with electronic torque distribution.
