The Ministry of Health has proposed a draft, which will have to be approved this afternoon at the Interterritorial Council, to try to stop the advance of the coronavirus, which will imply new restrictions on mobility and activities in the region. In this way, it is proposed to restrict the entrances and exits of municipalities with more than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, although there will be exceptions of major cause such as medical or work reasons. It has been taken into account that in the region the occupation of the Intensive Care Units (ICU) is higher than 35% and the positivity in the PCR test is higher than 10 percent. Thus, social gatherings will continue to be limited to a maximum of six people in both the public and private spheres.

 

The affected municipalities in the Community of Madrid would be the following: Madrid capital, with an incidence of 777 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, Fuenlabrada (1,166), Parla (1,156), Alcobendas (979), Torrejón de Ardoz (795), Getafe (773), Alcorcón (753), Leganés (725), Móstoles (629), and Alcalá de Henares (526).

 

The capital already had 45 basic health zones, the majority in the south, under restrictive measures, which affected 1,025,574 people and represented 15.4% of the total of the Community. Now, the measures would be extended to the entire city and Health would recommend avoiding unnecessary trips.

The draft also includes new capacity and schedule limitations. Shops will have to close their doors at 10 p.m., while bars, restaurants and bookmakers will do so at 11 p.m., without being able to accept customers an hour before closing. In addition, consumption in the bars is suppressed and a maximum of 50% of the capacity is set for the terraces and the interior of the premises.

 

Wakes with 15 people and churches at 30%

Another measure indicates that there will be restrictions on wakes, which will be limited to 15 people, also in places of worship, with a maximum of 30%, and in the rest of the establishments the limit will be set at 50%.

 

Gyms 50% off and playgrounds closed

On the other hand, children's playgrounds are closed and sports facilities will have to reduce their capacity to 50% indoors and 60% outdoors. Group sports practice is also limited to a maximum of six people. These measures do not affect official competitions of a state level and non-professional character and international competitions that are under the organizational tutelage of the Spanish sports federations.

 

The regional government had defended that the mobility restrictions implemented in a total of 45 health zones in the capital were sufficient, but with the arrival of the dreaded second wave of cases, Minister Salvador Illa asked President Isabel Díaz to tighten the measures Ayuso faced with "an extreme situation." Madrid refused to complete its closure, but, if the agreement is finally approved, Health will have gotten away with it.
