[Auto] Suzuki Swace, the compact family inherited from Toyota is now official

The Suzuki Swace is already official. It is the new compact family of Suzuki, which comes with hybrid mechanics. This car is more than likely familiar to you. And is not for less. The new model is the second car from the Japanese firm to be marketed under the commercial agreement with Toyota. It's basically a Toyota Corolla Touring Sports with the Suzuki logos.

There are still a few months for this new Suzuki Swace to be available on the European market. According to the brand, it will reach dealerships in our market next winter. In any case, we can already take a look and know most of the details of this new compact family from Suzuki.

 

Known design, with details to try to differentiate

As we said, the Swace is practically a copy of the Corolla TS. Obviously there are slight tweaks, like details on the bumpers or the wheel designs, but the main image is the same. It maintains the Full LED headlights and introduces a new front grill. Unlike the aforementioned Corolla, the Suzuki logo on the front is in a higher position.

Meanwhile, the rear is more difficult to modify. Basically they have located the Suzuki logo in a larger format, leaving the word Suzuki in the lower left corner of the gate, and in the right corner the inscription of the model. As a curiosity, the Hybrid inscription on the front wings common in Toyota, are also on this Suzuki Swace.

 

And a correct interior with enough space

As expected, the cabin is again difficult to differentiate from that used by its partners. The steering wheel, the digital display of instrumentation, the infotainment system, the climate control or the air vents are identical; as well as the entire dashboard and center console. The upholstery of the seats does seem to vary timidly.

The most positive part is that it includes the 8-inch multimedia screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the iQ wireless charging for smartphones and a couple of USB sockets. By the way, the front seats and the steering wheel can be heated, while the climate control is capable of detecting passengers in order to manage ventilation more efficiently.

Regarding the load capacity, Suzuki announces that the volume of the trunk of this Swace is 596 liters. This is just 2 liters less than the capacity offered by the Corolla station wagon with its small engine, the 125H. There is a double height floor and the rear seats can be lowered using handles from the trunk itself.

 

122 hp hybrid mechanics
The mechanics consist of a conventional hybrid system (not plug-in), with an electric motor and a 1.8-liter gasoline engine. This means that it picks up the lower power engine of the Toyota Corolla. In the case of the Corolla, the 125H version develops 122 hp and certifies a mixed consumption of just 3.3 l / 100 km.

As usual, there is no lack of the usual driving modes to manage the behavior of the vehicle. In the case of this model they are called Normal, Eco and Sport. Eco mode improves efficiency with smoother throttle response and reduced use of air conditioning. For its part, the Sport makes the response more reactive, also hardening the power steering.

 

Driving aids
Another positive point of being "a copy" of the Corolla is that it includes all the driving aids and safety systems. Among them, we can mention the parking sensors, the pre-collision system with detection of pedestrians and cyclists, the warning of involuntary lane departure with control over the direction, the signal recognition assistant, the adaptive cruise control, the blind spot detection or rear cross traffic alert.
