[Auto]Hamilton was the fastest and Vettel was last

Hamilton covered the 7,004 meters of the mythical Belgian track in one minute 43 seconds and 255 thousandths, 230 less than Frenchman Esteban Ocon (Renault); in a session in which little was rolled - it dripped at times - and in which the best times were set at the last minute and with a soft tire.

 

The Englishman Lando Norris, Sainz's colleague at McLaren, was third - 386 thousandths behind the six-time world champion - and the Thai Alexander Albon (Red Bull), fourth, at 476; in a session in which the other Mercedes, that of the Finn Valtteri Bottas, registered fifth in the timesheets, after an error in the first corner of the legendary Belgian track, which left him half a second behind his captain.

 

 

Sainz spun in 1: 44.006 and stayed 751 thousandths of Hamilton, one place ahead of 'Checo' (1: 44.180), who stopped the clock 925 thousandths of the time of the British champion.

 

The two Ferrari cars - the most successful team in the history of F1 - completed another session to be forgotten: the Monegasque Charles Leclerc was seventeenth, to one second and 892 thousandths, and the German Sebastian Vettel, twentieth and last: plus two seconds from Hamilton.
