Congressman Lenin Checco, spokesman for the bench, asked the president of the Congress, Manuel Merino, to include the Motion of Interpellation against María Antonieta Alva in the next plenary agenda.

The Broad Front (FA) considered that the Minister of Economy and Finance, María Antonieta Alva, should be questioned, for which it asked the President of Congress, Manuel Merino, to incorporate the Interpellation Motion presented on the 25th June 2020.

The FA spokesman and congressman, Lenin Checco, said that Merino should schedule "immediately" the interpellation against the Minister of Economy this week in order to inform the country of the results of the economic measures implemented by her administration. The parliamentarian said that these have failed due to the increase in unemployment and the number of infected and deceased in our country by COVID-19.

The parliamentarian pointed out that the economic reactivation "ignores the results in terms of health in the face of COVID-19", such as the need for ICU beds with mechanical ventilation, the health situation in the regions.

“The economic reactivation promoted in 4 phases has only led to COVID-19 infections increasing among workers. In Phase 1 of the implementation of the Reactiva Peru program, it only benefited 50,231 MYPEs and the FAE-MYPE Business Support Fund, which as of June 12, 2020 granted loans to 143,409 MYPEs, jointly mean having channeled credits only to 8.1 % of the universe of existing MYPEs, a really low coverage that excludes more than 90% of MYPEs, precisely those that generate the most jobs and have the most economic needs at the moment for their sustainability, "he said.

The Broad Front is not the only bench that opposes Alva's permanence in the MEF. Weeks ago, after the swearing-in of the new Ministerial Cabinet, United for Peru (UPP) congressman Javier Mendoza criticized Alva's re-election.

The parliamentarian pointed out that both Alva and Martín Benavides, Minister of Education, are facing interpellation processes in Congress and that therefore, the ideal would have been to elect someone else. Regarding Alva, he said that he must answer for the actions of Reactiva Peru.
