YaKuZa--BoSs Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 A campaign on the networks urges a boycott against the ice cream brand The MEP for Citizens (Cs), Jordi Cañas, has announced that he will denounce the multinational Unilever to the European Commission for not using Spanish in the ice cream menu of its Frigo brand in Catalonia. Specifically, for a few days there has been a boycott on social networks to stop consuming these products for using Catalan, English and German in the signs that can be found in establishments. Many people and entities, such as the Assembly for a Bilingual School of Catalonia, have denounced that the company "only wants Catalan-speaking customers" and rhetorically asks "do you give up 55% of Catalan customers? Faced with this controversy, Jordi Cañas, considers that the multinational "violates and violates European regulations" and attached the slogan "you don't respect me, I don't buy you." According to some sources, the company claims that the Generalitat regulations call for labeling in Catalan, which does not rule out other languages such as Spanish, which is co-official in Catalonia. What most bothered the network users who started the campaign is that German or English were used, ignoring Spanish, which is the most used in the community. 1
