Juan Soto se perderá el Opening Day al dar positivo a coronavirus.

Juan Soto will not play the opening game of the 2020 Major League Baseball season because he has a coronavirus.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo revealed the positive case, that the player is asymptomatic and that no other player appears to have the Covid-19 after tracking down any contacts the player may have had.

"We have to make plans to play without Juan for a long period of time," Rizzo said in a conference call.

Soto was not on the team's initial 30-player roster by the start of the season, as he had been put on the Covid-19 disabled list.

The outfielder missed the first two weeks of training camp prior to the start of the season for reasons that were not disclosed and did not report until July 16 with the Nats.

The Yankees and Nationals will play this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. the first game of the major league regular season.

Are there more cases of coronavirus in the Nationals?
According to various reports from the capital of the United States, no other Nats player tested positive.

Soto underwent the Covid-19 test on Sunday and played an exhibition game Monday in Baltimore. On Tuesday, he received negative test results on Sunday and underwent a new coronavirus test.

The same Tuesday, Soto played another exhibition and on Wednesday he trained, so he could have infected his teammates despite being asymptomatic.

The Washington campus underwent coronavirus tests today, but will not have the results before the game with the Yankees.
