[Auto] The first electric SsangYong will arrive in just a few months

In late 2019, in a press briefing, SsangYong warned us that they were working on an electric car, their first 100% electric vehicle. The car in question, still in the testing phase, is called "Project E100". At the moment we have not been able to see it, nor do we have all the information we would like, but the brand has left us some images as a teaser.

This first electric car from SsangYong will be an SUV model. In addition, the Asian company has confirmed that it will build on a very successful model, the SsangYong Korando, which has recently been renovated. Its arrival on the market is scheduled for the first half of 2021, so, we believe, it will not take long to be fully disclosed.

At the moment, looking at the teaser images that accompany this article, it is clear that it will be an SUV vehicle. SsangYong comments that it will be medium in size, spacious, versatile and with a modern design language. It will belong to the C-SUV segment.

We do not know exactly how they will do it, but the firm declares that it will highlight the use of new materials that will result in greater efficiency. We do know that the hood will be entirely made of aluminum and that, as in all electric, the grill will be sealed. They aim to be an urban-style body with light, streamlined lines. Also that the interior is spacious and usable.

When the brand informed us of the first steps of this E100 Project, it told us that its approximate dimensions would be 4.40 meters long, 1.86 wide and 1.62 high, in addition to a battle of 2.65 meters. In addition, he told us about the performance forecasts, with a power close to 190 hp, using a 61.5 kWh battery. The idea was to achieve a real autonomy of approximately 330 kilometers. As if this were not enough, SsangYong confirmed that in 2024 they will have a specific platform for electric vehicles. From there, it is very likely that we will see a completely new brand, betting strongly on the total or partial electrification of a good part of its products.
