Dr.Drako Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 A while ago, specifically in April, we anticipated the arrival of the JMC Vigus Work, which is marketed in other markets such as Vigus 3 and which comes to join the Vigus line already known from the brand. Other times we have already referred to this phenomenon, which originated when the most traditional truck manufacturers (Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Nissan) began to sell more sophisticated models, with better capacity and design. This caused the average ticket of these actors to grow. And that is why today we have trucks that are easily over 15 million pesos and that can approach 25 million pesos in their most equipped versions. Why talk about the arrival of manufacturers that previously had no interest in this segment, such as Volkswagen or Mercedes-Benz. Hey, if even Peugeot got to work in a truck of this type. And as has happened with passenger cars, those who took advantage of this abandoned space were the Chinese (ignoring the case of Mahindra and the extinct TATA. Of Indian origin). And boy, was it full of Chinese trucks: Maxus, Foton, ZX Auto, JAC, Great Wall, the same JMC and from this week Changan, they offer tremendously accessible models, close to the capacity of more consolidated trucks and in some cases, much more equipped than basic models of known brands, obviously with concessions and keeping the proportions in each of the cases. What is Vigus Work? It is the entry version of the JMC Vigus that we already know. It is aimed at an audience that is looking for a van, mainly for work, even more accessible and that in the best case is under 10 million pesos. It also targets the SME segment, who may need a low-cost, high-profit option to start their businesses. Finally, it can be an alternative for those who long ago did not renew their truck "of a lifetime" and are not "even there" with paying more than 16 million pesos for a new one. How do I differentiate the Vigus Work from a normal Vigus? Both trucks have some minor aesthetic differences, unfortunately maintaining the questioned design of the front, which to be respectful, is not its strongest point. Other than that, it looks robust with large wheel arches, alloy wheels, treads, exposed hooks, and a rear bar. The main air intake, trapezoidal in shape, is more prominent, although smaller in the Work model, allowing the top intake connecting both light groups to be discreetly enlarged. It is not noticeable, but better visual proportions are achieved than in the normal Vigus. The neblineros design is different. The handles, in the case of the Work model, are gray plastic. The tires are smaller: 245/70 for the Work, 265/70 for the normal Vigus. 16 "wheels have a different design. Vigus Work Dimensions Strangely, the Vigus Work is longer than the standard Vigus, although that may be due to the front end of the Work model. The other dimensions are practically the same, maintaining the wheelbase. Length: 5.41 meters Width: 1.90 meters Height: 1.79 meters Between axes: 3.08 meters Carrying capacity: 845 kilos What does Vigus Work offer? JMC has configured two versions, one with single-wheel drive and the other with 4-wheel drive, but the equipment is the same for both. It includes: Air conditioning Adjustable front seats Steering wheel with audio commands and adjustable in height Audio system with 7 "screen, USB port and Bluetooth support Height adjustable LED DRL headlights Electric mirrors with turn signals Central locking with remote control On-board computer Front and rear foggers As for security, there are some things to point out. We miss the ESP and the traction control, already fitted on trucks of similar prices. It does not have ISOFIX anchors, so its use is not recommended for families with young children or who depend on special chairs. It also does not have a three-point central belt in the rear seats. This equipment is not carried by the normal Vigus either. Coded key Electronic immobilizer Alarm Double airbag Front disc brakes, with ABS system for all four wheels Four three-pointed belts Vigus Work powertrain and chassis Another big difference with the normal Vigus is its motorization. This has always been the main card to be played by JMC, since they have two important alliances, such as Isuzu and Ford, who have not only loaned some of their engines, but also part of its development and engineering, which is supposed it is a guarantee of reliability and ease of maintenance. In the case of this new Vigus Work, it carries an Isuzu heart. Isuzu 2.5 Turbo Diesel Engine 123 Hp (@ 3,600 RPM) power 310 Nm (@ 2,000-2,400 RPM) of torque Euro V emissions approval 5-speed manual gearbox Electronic traction selector (in 4WD versions) Hydraulic steering Urban consumption (3CV): 8.8 km / l Extra-urban consumption (3CV): 12.9 km / l b 1
