Many times, when we talk about a specific model, we refer to the platform on which it is developed. This element is vital, because thanks to it you will be able to include the latest technological and mechanical options. Furthermore, manufacturers are often criticized for "recycling" a base for use in a model for which "in theory" it is not intended. The last example is the PSA Group and the use of the CMP base.

This platform is designed for urban models, but with certain adjustments it can be scaled up to segment C. The proof is that the new Citroën C4 is developed on this basis and, in the absence of testing, it does not appear to be a bad product. Well, now we are going to go to the most extreme (worth the redundancy) of the sector: Morgan. Yes, this brand has been using the same chassis for its cars for more than eight decades.

Morgan has developed a modular chassis called CX-Generation

Due to its own idiosyncrasy, Morgan has worked for years with a premise: to offer low-weight models and excessive technical simplicity. The only way to combine so many conditions was using a very simple steel chassis that, in addition, has helped them to manufacture their models by hand. However, the evolution of the sector has forced them to adapt and for this they have had to develop a new base.

We introduced it to you here a few months ago and it takes the name CX-Generation. It is completely new and uses much more modern and sophisticated materials. In addition, it will allow the inclusion of more current and better performance mechanics. Everything, to offer a final weight on the scale of only 97 kilos. In addition, with the know-how they have under their belt, they will know how to update it so that it lasts a couple of decades at the very least.

However, in order for Morgan to start production of the models on the CX-Generation platform, he has to say goodbye to the previous one. This is what he has celebrated these days. Yes, we say celebrated, because the last Plus Four 70th Edition has left the factory located on Pickersleigh Road. The reason is simple, it is the 20th unit of the version with which they have celebrated the seven decades of life of an iconic model.

We are confident that Morgan's career will continue to be strong and stable as before. In addition, it will be an oasis of exclusivity and sportsmanship in a sector that tends to become more homogeneous with each passing day.
