Jaguar Land Rover is accelerating the development of its electric models. According to its latest strategic plan, by 2030, all its launches must have one or more electrified versions. The first was the I-Pace SUV, but behind it will come flagship products like the new generation of the XJ sedan. But their goal is not there, they want to extend this energy to models unthinkable a couple of years ago.

Specifically, we refer to the generational replacement of the mythical F-Type. The English sports car has been on sale for seven years, although recently it received a deep restyling that improved it in everything. Its replacement should arrive shortly, although due to the problems that the brand is going through it is delaying. Not surprisingly, the creative team at Jaguar continues to work and we already have a preview: its possible name. It would be, Jaguar EV-Type do you like it?

The Jaguar EV-Type would be a tribute to the 1960 E-Type

At least, this is the name that the English firm has registered with WIPO. Apparently, the Jaguar EV-Type would be a showcase model loaded with technology and tradition. This is where the rumors come in, as they assure that the choice of this name was not accidental. We all know how important the E-Type was between the years 1960 to 1970 of the last century. For this reason, they would have chosen this same name, although inserting the "V".

Another piece of data that supports this theory is that it would be the only Jaguar model that would keep the surname Type. Regarding the design of its body and technical characteristics there are also many doubts, although the former Jaguar designer offered some interesting data long ago. According to Ian Callum, we would be looking at a model with a central engine and similar lines to those worn by the unfortunate C-X75 from 2010.

We will have to wait for the next movement of the brand. For now, the application for registration in WIPO is pending approval, leaving time to know if it will be granted. All in all, the economic cost of developing the Jaguar EV-Type will be very high, but now it has the help of BMW. Bayerische could collaborate with the costs since, after all, this platform could also be used in some of its models.
