The Audi e-tron is now entitled to its sporty version, whether in standard bodywork or sportback, with power peaking at 503 horsepower.

 

Who says electric cars can't be sporty? As we have seen for some time, zero-emission models are gradually getting rid of their not always rewarding image to become more desirable, like the Tesla Model S and Model 3 Performance, or the new Porsche Taycan. From now on, it is Audi's turn to invest in this segment of electric sports, since the Ingolstadt brand is getting involved, by offering a new version of its e-tron SUV, soberly called S. A badge which now includes all engines, from petrol to diesel to electric, therefore, offering a wide choice to customers. These new variants should allow Audi to increase its sales of “clean” models, in order to lower its average emissions and thus, limit the impact of the fines planned for next year by the European Union, while offering attractive models.

 

 

Available on the Audi e-tron standard and its sportback version, this variant S is distinguished first of all by some specific elements, and in particular its wheel arches enlarged by 23 mm compared to the classic model. The S Line pack comes here as standard, with its triangular air intakes located just below the lights, while the rear bumper is decorated with chrome, almost forgetting the absence of exhaust outlets. 20-inch rims complete the package, while a 21-inch wheel is optional, concealing black floating brackets that can be painted orange by slightly extending the check. On board, the presentation hardly changes compared to the standard version, although the atmosphere is logically a little more sporty. Among the specific elements, let us mention the brushed aluminum inserts which can be chosen in carbon, as well as the leather and Alcantara upholstery.

In the bowels of this new Audi e-tron S, no less than three electric motors are responsible for sending power to the wheels, those at the rear in normal driving, and to the four when the pace accelerates or that the road conditions are more unstable. Moreover, this sports version enriches its endowment with a torque vectoring system, in order to compensate for the lack of mechanical differential and thus increase traction in curves in particular. With 503 horsepower and 970 Nm of torque, the electric SUV is able to achieve 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.5 seconds, thanks to a punctual peak in power for 8 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 210 km / h. For its part, the 95 kWh battery is identical to the standard version, and offers a range of 360 km on the e-tron and 365 km on the sportback version. As a reminder, the Audi e-tron 55 can cover 415 km on a single charge.

The launch of these two bodies is planned for the fall, while prices are already known for the French market. It will therefore cost € 96,600 for the classic version and € 99,200 for the sportback version, both of which are unfortunately not eligible for the ecological bonus, due to their entry ticket exceeding € 60,000. The standard Audi e-tron is also not eligible, with a call price of € 83,880.
