ROVEN Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 (edited) Expected in 2021, the new BMW i4 electric sedan begins to reveal some information, both on its style and on its engine. We have already been talking about the arrival of a 100% electric sedan in the BMW range for years, which does not seem to be in a great hurry to reveal it, while Tesla and its Model 3 are still alone in the premium segment. More for a long time, however, since the Bavarian firm is not idle, and continues to work on the development of a rival for the Californian. It is expected to hit the market by 2021, although it has been announced for two years already, first as a concept. Remember, it was in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and this style study was then called iVision Dynamics, then taking the form of an electric sedan claiming a range of about 600 km. From now on, it is the series version which is revealed a little more, whereas we had hitherto always seen it under a thick camouflage hiding its lines. However, these should remain very close to the future 4 Series Gran Coupé, as announced by our colleagues from Automobile-Clean. The sedan should notably take over the grille of the concept unveiled a few weeks ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but should nevertheless remain rather conventional in its lines, even if it will be necessary to wait for its official revelation to have the heart of it. For its part, the interior should remain in the same vein as the latest productions of the brand, with a digital handset associated with a touch screen integrating the entire infotainment system, as well as the assistant staff activated by “Hello BMW! " Finally, the habitability should be there, with batteries that will be logically hidden under the floor. Which versions for i4? Our colleagues go even further, and are even able to give us details of the range of this i4, which will offer a choice of four engines, ranging from 200 to 400 horsepower with the i420, i430, i440 and i450, for a range between 300 and 600 km depending on the version chosen. Charging should be done in around thirty minutes via a CSS Combo socket of 150 kW minimum, but it will also probably be possible to connect to a standard socket or a Wallbox, even if the details have not yet been determined. been revealed. As Automobile-Propre points out, no M sport version is planned in the catalog, but an M Sport finish will be beautiful and well offered. Competing with the Tesla Model 3, but also with the Polestar 2, the future BMW i4 will be launched in the course of 2021, with priority arrival of the 1440 and i450 versions. Regarding the rates, and even if these have not yet been confirmed, there is already talk of a starting price of around 50,000 €, excluding ecological bonus, which would therefore allow him to hunt on the same land than its Californian competitor.
