AC Milan revealed on Saturday that none of the players on its first roster or the coaching staff have tested positive for COVID-19, the day after the club president said some players were recovering from the disease.

In a statement, the seven-time European champion club announced that "based on the results of medical examinations conducted so far, there were no cases of COVID-19 among first-team players and the coaching staff."Milan-696x435.jpg

The club added that the players will continue with the individualized training that began this week with the aim of being able to resume the 2019-2020 season.

On Friday, the president of the entity Paolo Scaroni revealed to the local press that some of his players were "in the process of recovery" after being infected by the new coronavirus that has killed more than 30,000 people in Italy.

His statements came the day after Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Torino revealed positive cases in eight of their players, in addition to others infected among the coaches.

On Thursday, the Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora had stated that he hoped that group training could begin on May 18, although this Saturday he clarified that after learning the positive cases "it is not a good sign" in the face of the resumption of the championship.
