This review is of the tenth generation of Honda Civic. The model under review is the 2017 1.8L i-VTEC Oriel. The owner bought this Civic in PKR 31,50,000 as a used car. If we buy the same car with the same features, we can expect to spend around PKR 41,00,000. The owner also considered Toyota Altis Grande before buying this Honda Civic. Both the interior and exterior looks of this car appealed more to the owner compared to those of Toyota Altis Grande. The owner also considered the Civic Turbo; however, earlier models of this car have issues, and later models are too expensive. The resale market of 1.8L Oriel is better than that of the 1.5L Turbo. Some of the known issues in this car include faulty steering rack, battery faults, A/C compressor, and radiator malfunctions. The owner has driven this car for 4,000 km after purchasing it.

This model does not have LED headlights as standard; however, the current model does have them. Daytime Running Light (DRLs) are standard with projector halogen headlamps. The current model of the Civic, however, has LED headlamps with LED turn signals. Other exterior features include fog lights, side turn signal integrated into door mirrors, LED tail lamps, electrically-adjustable door mirrors, retractable door mirrors, chrome grille at the front, body-colored door mirrors and handles, 16-inch alloy wheels and smart entry with push-button start. The exterior design slopes a bit at the rear to give a sporty and elegant look to the tenth generation of Civic. The exterior design language of the tenth generation of Civic was well-renowned across the globe. This is one of the reasons behind its po[CENSORED]rity in Pakistan. The unique exterior design helps it differentiate itself from the competition.

Electric Power Steering (EPS) comes fitted with this car and includes audio and MID controls. The EPS comes with tilt and telescopic features to provide you the perfect steering position. Other interior features include ivory interior color, trunk lid lining, trunk hinge cover, 2-DIN integrated audio system, optional navigation, 4 speakers, full-color TFT trip computer display, digital instrument cluster, auto air conditioning system, manual driver seat with height adjuster, sun visors with vanity mirrors, fabric seats as standard, power door locks and power windows with one-touch up/down for both driver and front passenger windows. The audio system also has CD, Bluetooth, USB, and iPhone connectivity. Interior lights include a map, dome, and trunk lights. Armrests are provided both for the front and rear passengers. The rear armrest also contains cupholders. A 12V power outlet is also provided to charge your electronic devices on the go. Four cup holders and door pockets are provided both at the front and at the rear. Footrest for the driver and coat hangers are provided as standard.

This car comes with a 1.8L engine that produces 140bhp at 6500rpm and 169Nm of torque at 4300rpm. The engine is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This particular model does not come with padel shifters. The owner claims that he is getting 12 km/l in the city without A/C. He uses ait filter from the Honda company and Hi-Octane fuel. Compared to the previous generation, the acceleration of this car is a bit sluggish, mainly due to the larger and heavier body. The maintenance cost after each 5000 km is PKR 5,300.

Since the car is a bit lower to the ground and is wide, the handling is better than other sedans. Cushioning of the seats is relatively comfortable compared to other sedans. Cruise control increases comfortability and reduces stress on long journeys. The cruise control works till 120 km/h speeds. The suspension is soft over bumps and rough roads. There is a MacPherson Strut suspension with a stabilizer at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. The front and rear cameras help in getting out of tight spaces in the city. The legroom is ample for both the front and rear passengers. Boot space is also optimal for a small family.

Airbags are provided for the driver and the front passenger. This generation of Honda Civic comes with 4-wheel disc brakes that help in braking. This generation also has an Electric Parking Brake (EPB). Other safety features include Auto Brake Hold (ABH), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), high mount stop lamp, reverse camera, seatbelts, child locks, immobilizer, and security alarm.

The tenth generation of Honda Civic is an impressive-looking car with a strong resale market. Spare parts are readily available; however, they are a bit expensive. If you avoid all the known faults like steering rack issues while purchasing a used Honda Civic, then it is a viable decision. There is a score of luxury features that make purchasing this car a good decision. Up till now, the owner has been enjoying the tenth generation of Honda Civic and will also recommend this car to others.
