AymenGhost. Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) Combining the comfort of a luxury sedan with the dynamic temperament of a racing beast is the mission of the new BMW M5, which houses a 600 hp V8 under its hood. Exceptional test! The stylistic changes of the M5 are generally dictated by technical constraints, linked to heat dissipation and aerodynamic sophistication. Suddenly, the front bumper accommodates large air intakes intended for cooling the V8, while the rear incorporates a huge diffuser, framed by 4 exhaust outlets. As for the profile, nothing to report except low-profile tires, fitted with rims (20 ’’), revealing huge carbon / ceramic stirrups, marked “M”. Add to this frenzied panoply a molded carbon roof and you get a sport full of testosterone. But the best is yet to come. Let's turn the ignition key and listen to the V8. Rather discreet at idle, this 8-cylinder lets express all its quintessence beyond 3000 rpm. This is precisely what we had the pleasure of testing under appropriate conditions, by confronting it with the legendary Nürburgring circuit. The dynamic test begins with slalom exercises which, performed over a course of approximately 300 m, highlight the instantaneous responsiveness of the steering, relating to steering and counter-bracing operations. Next is the emergency braking event, where the M5 comes to a sudden stop over short distances. Crazy temper For casting, the BMW M5 runs in 4WD (4-wheel drive) mode permanently. However, sustained acceleration tipped a large part of the cavalry (600 hp, in total) towards the rear axle. Suddenly, the M5 resumes its reflexes of good rear propulsion, ideal for negotiating laces at breakneck speeds. It should also be noted that the German sports car rests on a perfectly firm, but well calibrated suspension, which allows spectacular drifts. Adrenaline-seeking pilots can select Sport Plus mode, and turn anti-skid off, making the M5 even more radical. The performances are frankly demonic: the maximum speed flirts with the 305 km / h (bridled to 250 km / h), while the 0 to 100 km / h is dispatched in 3.4 s. And of course, the climbs are accompanied by a captivating sound, released by the 4 exhaust outlets. Add to this symphony, the shrill screeching of the rubber on the asphalt ... And you get a dream racing car, which transports the pilot into another dimension. In the end, this sensational machine with demonic performance trades ruby on the nail. Count something like 1,439,000 DH, to benefit from the services of Comfort finishing, the high-end version, Exclusive, requires an extension of just over 100,000 DH. Notice to purists!
