Four years after its launch, the bestseller SUV from Wolfsburg will review its copy. What do we already know about the restyled Volkswagen Tiguan?

(Updated 20/01/2020) New restyled Volkswagen Tiguan (2020) - The most pressing competitor of the Peugeot 3008 does not intend to let the latter take off forever on the French market. A few months before the Sochalian SUV, the Volkswagen Tiguan will offer itself a facelift allowing it to calmly contemplate its second part of its career. It should be revealed in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.

Surprised without camouflage
In mid-January, the automotive world discovered a first image of the future restyled Volkswagen Tiguan, via a stolen photo. This snapshot, probably taken during the shooting that will feed the future official press kit, reveals precious information relating to the retouching of which the crossover was the subject. We notably discover a completely revised facies. The look is refined, by adopting the styling codes recently inaugurated by the Golf 8, like the split optics with the light signature overflowing on the wings. The new Volkswagen logo appears at the center of a more notched grille. The latter overlooks a unique shield that features large C-shaped LEDs, based on black lacquered skins.

What's new on board?
Conversely, it is impossible to distinguish the modifications from which the restyled Volkswagen Tiguan benefits. Without a doubt, he will see his lights enjoying new light signatures, above a revised and corrected shield. On board, the design of the cockpit should not experience any major upheaval, if only the updating of the multimedia system. On the safety side, new equipment will appear, just as the SUV will increase its degree of autonomous driving.

Hybridization in sight
For once, Volkswagen is lagging behind technologically. While the Peugeot 3008 incorporates two rechargeable hybrid engines in its catalog (225 and 300 hp), its most serious German competitor is content, for the moment, with purely thermal blocks. To get back into the race, the Tiguan will take over the rechargeable hybrid powertrain unveiled by cousin Seat. Last fall, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, his alter-ego called Tarraco (7 seats) unveiled a showcar close to the final model, moved to the cumulative by 245 hp which is associated with a 13kWh battery. 50 km of full-electric autonomy will be ensured by the latter.
