Toyota Tacoma 2020 arrives in Mexico, produced where life is worth nothing

Historically, the contemporary production of the Toyota Tacoma had been carried out at the plants in San Antonio Texas, the United States and in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. But, to be honest, manufacturing in our country was secondary, supportive.

However, as of December 2019, the production of this pickup completely moved to the new Apaseo el Grande complex, Guanajuato, so the Toyota Tacoma 2020 can already presume to be a vehicle whose production is entirely carried out in Mexico.

The most interesting thing is that this change is accompanied by a slight facelift, something necessary considering that Tacoma has been present in our market since 2005. Thus, we find a slight redesign in grill, fascia, skulls and wheels.

In relation to the past model, in terms of equipment, the new Tacoma launches 8-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while adding sunroofs, leather seats

 

Regarding safety, the following stand out: seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist ( BA) and TSC (Trailer Sway Control).

In terms of functionality, it now has a 7-pin tow hook and harness for trailers, as well as rear and side stirrups with non-skidding. This without forgetting that it has a drag package and TSC (Trailer Sway Control).

Where there is no news is in the mechanical section, since under the hood the V6 of 3.5L continues, with 278HP and 265 lb-ft of torque that is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the version, traction can be simple (4X2) or 4x4.

The front suspension is independent type with double fork and springs; while the rear is dependent type with rigid axle and semi-elliptical springs. The towing capacity is 1,586 kilos, and 3,035 kilos when it has electric brakes on the wheels of the trailer.
