Viceroy Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Mercedes-Benz E class boasts new engines, interior upgrade The refreshed 2021 Mercedes-Benz E class will be offered with two new engines — a 2-liter, four-cylinder engine and a beltless six-cylinder engine. Both engines are paired with an integrated starter generator, known as EQ Boost, that can add up to 20 hp for short periods. A camouflaged version of the sedan was shown at a press event during CES this month, but the vehicle officially will debut at the Geneva auto show in early March and then arrive in European stores this summer. U.S. availability and pricing was not disclosed. The E class also will receive an interior upgrade with a next-gen steering wheel that features touch control buttons. The dashboard will sport dual 10.25-inch displays and feature Mercedes' artificial intelligence-powered multimedia system, MBUX. In a nod to rising pollution in major cities, the E class will also now monitor outdoor air quality. Mercedes will equip the E class with a suite of driver-assistance tech, including a safety system that monitors the blind spots even when a vehicle is at a standstill. The system can warn the driver of approaching vehicles, motorcycles or bicycles when opening the door. The nameplate is a crucial piece of Mercedes' global business. With more than 14 million delivered since 1946, the E class is the most po[CENSORED]r model in the traditional midsize luxury segment, and one of brand's biggest profit centers, according to Sam Fiorani, vice president at AutoForecast Solutions.
