US President Donald Trump has accused "false media" of harming the interests of the United States by spreading false news about Iran, saying that Tehran may not understand for this reason what is really happening.

Trump said in two tweets he posted today, Friday, on his official account on Twitter: "False media is hurting our country with its fake and inaccurate coverage of the Iran issue. It is scattered and based on weak (perhaps fabricated) sources and dangerous!"

And Trump added: "At least Iran does not know what to think, which at this time may be a good thing."

In spite of the continued escalation between the United States and Iran, several indications issued by the White House in the past days indicate that Trump does not wish to engage in direct military conflict with the Islamic Republic, amid reports of a major dispute in the administration of the President on the way to deal with this issue, Especially in light of National Security Adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo insisting on a tougher approach.

Trump, during a press conference at the White House, on Thursday, expressed his hope that his country would not go towards a war with Iran, while the New York Times quoted officials in the President's administration that he informed the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States, Barrick Shanahan, that he did not want him. In any open military confrontation with the Iranian forces.

The Middle East is experiencing great tension against the backdrop of a sharp escalation of relations between the United States and Iran, and the Trump administration ordered, earlier in May, the deployment of an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers in the Gulf under the pretext of "Iranian threats."
