Inkriql
Former judge Carlos Rafael Ortega Portillo was intercepted and riddled by two hitmen who were mobilized by motorcycle at a time when he was preparing to enter his home in Coronel Oviedo, departmental capital of Caaguazú, in Paraguay. The incident occurred in the late hours of Thursday when on board his truck, the magistrate had been followed by the murderers to his home. Once arrived, one of them descended from his motorcycle, pulled out a gun, approached less than a meter from Ortega and began firing at the victim who was still inside the vehicle. The judge was transferred to a health center and later to the Trauma Hospital, where he died an hour and a half after he was admitted. His death was confirmed by the authorities of the place in the morning hours of this Friday. Ortega had been removed from office after a case of passive bribery was investigated. In that property he lived for four months, according to the newspaper Hoy. The incident was recorded at 20:50 on Thursday, at a time when the professional was preparing to enter his home located in the San Isidro neighborhood of this city, according to the police report. The murder was captured by the security cameras of the place, who show the sequence and how the hitmen ended the life of the magistrate. Seconds after being hit by the bullets and those responsible for fleeing by motorcycle at full speed, the Toyota Hilux de Ortega pickup hits the gate of the house and hits the structure. The victim was already unconscious, but the foot remained in the accelerator which caused the involuntary deployment. According to the newspaper ABC of Paraguay, Ortega Portillo had a history of bribery. On one occasion he had been filmed receiving a $ 2,000 bribe, as part of a bribe to allegedly favor a defendant in a trial. “The fatal victim is the lawyer Carlos Rafael Ortega Portillo, 50, who was a judge in Santa Rita. Some hypothesis is handled and the hitmen would be Pedro Juan Caballero or San Pedro. I was living alone in a rented house, "Florencio Aquino said in commissary in communication with the 1080 AM Radio. Pedro Juan Caballero is a well known drug lord in Paraguay. The “narco capital” of Latin America, as it is known today, has maintained ties with marijuana trafficking for more than 20 years. But the levels of violence that develop during these days are unprecedented. By 2002, official estimates indicated that 45,000 hectares of cannabis were harvested annually. Other reserved reports, however, realized that the productive area could reach 70 thousand hectares. According to data provided by the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad), Paraguay has become the "main producer of marijuana in the region." The capital of Amambay is the leader and its characteristics not only allow the cultivation of marijuana, but also make it ideal for it to be a corridor of cocaine and weapons. The lands of this region "are conducive to this need and their productivity is very high, both in volume and quality," says an official analysis.
