FESTIVAL. Margins

The independent cinema of Latin America, Spain and Portugal is once again the protagonist of the Margenes festival, which this year celebrates its ninth edition. Discovering talents and providing an exhibition window to emerging creators, showing the new audiovisual narratives and claiming great authors that are part of the world film heritage are some of the lines that define this festival. It will open with the Mexican film Sanctorum, by Joshua Gil, and during the four weeks that the festival lasts you can see works by filmmakers such as Eloy Enciso, Théo Court, Miguel Llansó, Elisa Cepedal, Ion de Sosa, João Nicolau, Melina León or María Paz González, among many others. In addition, there will be a retrospective dedicated to Paulo Rocha and another to the Mexican initiative Documentary Tour Ambulante.

THEATER. The boy and the beast

A musical tale That is the proposal that the writer Elvira Lindo, the composer Jarkko Rihimäki and the artistic director María Lindo will take to the stage of the Fernán Gómez Theater. The child and the beast is not a concert or a play or a book, but, somehow, it is all three at once. Elvira Lindo tells the story of his own father arriving in Madrid in the post-war period, while the Linien Ensemble sextet puts music to his words with a composition created specifically for this text.

FESTIVAL. Tentacular

The second edition of Tentacular, the festival of critical technologies and digital adventures, is dedicated to endophilia, a concept that, in its original meaning, refers to those microorganisms capable of living in the most hostile conditions on the planet, but that from Tentacular they have wanted to extend to the current extremist tendencies that we see in many areas of reality. Artists, journalists, activists and researchers will invite us to reflect through workshops, talks, presentations and performances on the world around us, which becomes increasingly complex and changing every day. Among the most prominent names in this edition are the journalist Paul Mason, the multidisciplinary creator Holly Herndon or the multimedia artist Shu Lea Cheang.

When: November 21-23. Where: Matadero Madrid (Legazpi Square, 8). Price: 30 euros festival bonus, 15 euros day bonus

CHILDISH. The man who only thought of numbers

Pedro Carvalho has set out to teach mathematics to the little ones in a somewhat peculiar way: showing them that numbers also make up a fantasy universe and that it is enough that they give us some keys to be able to access it and have fun. Through his show, starring a man who is only able to think of numbers, we can contemplate how dance and mathematics shake hands to make us more comprehensible the fascinating world of numbers and their connections.

When: November 23 and 24. Where: La Casa Encendida (Round of Valencia, 2). Price: 3 euros

GAME. The hidden night

Few things are as suggestive and fun as the idea of spending an evening in the museum, when the rooms have already emptied and it is silence that predominates. During some nights, the National Museum of Natural Sciences will allow us to sneak into its pavilions of Biology and Geology and access spaces reserved only to the museum staff, discovering some of its secrets, mysteries and curiosities. The activities of these themed nights are intended as games and, at the end, a snack will be served and there will be space to chat about the experience.

When: November 23 from 20.00 to 22.30 (more dates in 2020). Where: National Museum of Natural Sciences (c / José Gutiérrez Abascal, 2). Price: 20 euros

EXPOSITION. Imagining the Mediterranean house. Italy and Spain in the 50s

We know almost everything about the Mediterranean: its history, its geography, its gastronomy, its tragedies. Less usual, however, is to explore it with architecture as a common thread and more specifically with the architecture of a particular period: the 50s. In these years, Italy and Spain opted for constructive models that interacted with the environment and tried to recover a kind of indigenous values that are recognized as being typical of these latitudes. Although the exhibition has been open for more than a month, on Saturday 23 the ICO Museum organizes a guided tour with the curator of the Antonio Pizza exhibition, which will deepen the particularities of Spanish and Italian architecture from the mid-20th century.
