Inkriql
From Villa La Angostura (Neuquén) - The ski season is over, but in the Argentine Patagonia it does not stop snowing. During the past winter break, Volkswagen Argentina was a sponsor of Cerro Bayo and the brand had organized a test drive for the press with the new T-Cross, which had to be postponed. The problem was not the lack of snow, which this year there was plenty. The inconvenience was, this time, the collapse of a mountain slope, which hindered the transit for several weeks on Route 40. For this reason, the test drive with the T-Cross could only be carried out this week, under a sleet and an icy cold that is reluctant to accept the arrival of spring in Patagonia. The T-Cross MSi Tiptronic is a model already known in our market. VW's first SUV for Segment B (boy) was launched last July and Autoblog tested it for a week (read review). In these first four months 2,824 units were patented. Therefore, VW took advantage of this press test drive to announce its next releases in Argentina. * T-Cross Turbo: "You need a more powerful engine", we said in Autoblog at the time of testing it and at that time we anticipate what is now officially confirmed. In 2020 the T-Cross TSi will reach our market. It will have the well-known 1.4 turbonaftero engine of several VW models (150 hp and 250 Nm). It will be combined only with automatic torque converter box (Tiptronic, six-speed). This version is manufactured in Brazil from the moment of its launch, but only next year will it arrive in Argentina. Of course: the current T-Cross MSi today has prices between 1.14 and 1.77 million pesos. Get ready for the T-Cross TSi to be clearly more expensive. * VW Amarok V6 258 hp: Product of national manufacture. At the beginning of 2020, the expected enhanced version of the Amarok V6 manufactured in Pacheco will be released. The performance will increase from 224 to 256 hp (272 for a few seconds, with Overboost) and from 550 to 580 Nm. This improvement will be applied to all Amarok V6 that leave the Tigre game plant from next year. Autoblog already handled it during this summer on the Coast (read contact). * VW Tarek Project: Another nationally manufactured product. At the end of 2020 the production of the first VW SUV produced in Pacheco will begin. It will be positioned in Segment C (compact), halfway between the offer of the current T-Cross and Tiguan AllSpace. In more days, VW will show the authorities and guests the progress in the expansion works of its factory in Argentina and will tell all the details of the so-called Tarek Project, but these data can already be read here. * VW Touareg III: It will be the last launch of VW before the end of 2019. The third generation of the SUV for Segment E (large) was completely renovated and will arrive in Argentina only with V6 turbodiesel engine. It is already in presale. The equipment, the technical sheet, the price and the contact that Autoblog already made in Germany can be read here. * Polo GTS and Virtus GTS: The sports versions of Polo and Virtus will be launched in Brazil at the beginning of 2020 and shortly after they will arrive in Argentina. They will have the well-known 1.4 turbonaftero (150 hp and 250 Nm), with automatic torque converter box (Tiptronic, six-speed). In addition, they will be differentiated by tires, brakes, exhausts and an aerodynamic kit (see photos). Of course: the current Polo MSi and Virtus MSi today have prices between 900 thousand and 1.26 million pesos. Prepare to make GTS clearly more expensive. * Golf VIII: The eighth generation of the classic hatchback for Segment C (compact) has just been presented in Europe (see photos). VW has already confirmed that it will arrive in Argentina. Its local launch will be at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021. In addition to all the novelties in design, dimensions, mechanics and equipment reported in this note, an important change for Argentina will be the new origin of the model. It will no longer be imported from Mexico or Brazil (it paid 0% customs duty), but from Germany (it will pay 35%). * VW New Urban Coupé: At the end of 2020, VW will present a new product manufactured in Brazil. It will be a crossover with “adventurous” aesthetics based on the Polo, which promises to have a more accessible price positioning than the T-Cross. It will have a fastback body (VW already speaks of “four-door coupé”) and a greater clearance of the ground than the Polo. The first sketches were already published here.
