In addition to cleaning the floors, robots can become perfect allies for other household tasks. For example, lend a hand when leaving home windows (and other glass surfaces) without a trace of dirt. These glass cleaner robots are the protagonists of our comparison, in which we have selected three models from different manufacturers for sale on Amazon.
What models have we chosen?

The reality is that there are still not many manufacturers who are betting on these types of devices. Therefore, we have chosen to choose three teams of similar characteristics on paper that promise to clean (almost) without assistance. This is the Ecovacs Winbot X (with an average score of 8.75 points), the Hobot 288 (7.75) and the Novohogar W-Clean900 (8).

During the tests, and taking into account the type of product in question, we have taken into account different variables common to all of them:

- Design: It does not matter much if they are beautiful or not, but the quality of the construction, its appearance of resistance to shocks or its dimensions.

- Cleaning: They usually have different cleaning modes, mops and recommendations for use. In this section, the finishing of the windows after their use has been assessed.

- Security: It is very important to keep in mind that, although their operation is autonomous and they have different safety measures to avoid accidents, it is always convenient to use them while it is present. Starting from this idea, each device uses additional security measures to forget about unforeseen events as much as possible.

- Ease of use: Whether controlling them from the device or from a remote control or a mobile app, we seek that anyone, even if not accustomed to this type of robots, can use them without complications or help.
So we have tried them

All the robots participating in this comparison have faced, in the first place, a window with a high level of dirt: dust, fingerprints, watermarks ... After checking their performance in an extreme scenario like this, they have been used to clean all the glass doors and windows of the home after 15 days without touching them; a way to see the finish in an environment of use of maintenance of cleaning that also helps to test the autonomy in the case of models with internal battery.

After two months analyzing the performance of the products, the winning glass cleaner robot has turned out to be the Ecovacs Winbot X. With the intermediate price in the comparison, it is easy to use, leaves a good finish on the crystals and transmits a lot of confidence thanks to its Different security systems.

 

This robot places special emphasis on safety so that there is no fall. For this, the main unit has a strong absorption system that fixes it to the glass that it is cleaning and is also accompanied by a suction cup - that works with batteries - that is connected in two ways: through an anchor cable and wirelessly with a 2.4 GHz connection. If it is not properly positioned, it does not allow the system to start. It does not hinder or limit the movements of the robot even if it is placed on the glass that is being cleaned, since it has an adjustable cable that adapts in real time to its needs. The mop is fixed with velcro to the robot and, to clean with guarantees, it has to be sprayed with a soapy solution (the package includes its own). Once the cleaning is finished, it can be washed in the washing machine.

Its operation is extremely simple and is managed from the robot itself - it has a button on its remote that acts as on / off and activates the automatic cleaning function - or through a remote control. Although in most cases the automatic mode is sufficient, this complement allows you to choose, in addition, a thorough cleaning mode that covers the surface of the window twice, once with vertical movements and once with horizontal. Although the results are not perfect, the work with very dirty crystals is surprising, since it removes dust and stains very successfully.
