Four American Airlines flight attendants were arrested at the Miami airport after arriving from Santiago de Chile on Tuesday. Authorities reported that those arrested would be part of a complex money laundering operation.

The captured persons were identified as María Beatriz Pasten Cuzmar, 55; María Isabel Wilson Ossandon, 48; Carlos Alberto Muñoz Moyano, 40; and Miaria Delpilar Roman Strick, 55; after Customs and Border Protection agents confiscated more than $ 22,000.

After the arrest, the four detainees were taken to the Miami-Dade jail. "We take this matter seriously and are cooperating with the police throughout their investigation," American Airlines said in a statement.
