World record for the longest direct flight on a passenger plane

The longest scheduled flight in the world so far is from Singapore to Newark, New Jersey

Световен рекорд за най-дълъг директен полет на пътнически самолет

Qantas, the Australian carrier, made the longest flight on a passenger plane without an intermediate landing.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with 49 passengers and cabin crew, traveled 16,200 km from New York to Sydney in 19 hours and 16 minutes. He took off Friday night from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport and landed at Kingsford Smith Airport in the Australian city.

In order not to have an intermediate refueling stop, the aircraft took off with a full tank, a small number of passengers with limited luggage and empty cargo compartments. The flight was only a test, but Quontas aims to launch regular direct flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to London and New York.

The longest scheduled flight in the world is currently from Singapore to Newark in New Jersey (18 hours and 30 minutes) and operated by Singapore Airlines.

Scientists performed in-flight tests for brain activity, melatonin levels and alertness of pilots and cabin crew.

Exercises were organized for passengers, most of whom were airline executives, journalists and scientists. The hours of serving, switching on and turning off the lights in the passenger compartment were tailored to make it easier for passengers to cope with long-distance fatigue and to adapt more readily to changing times after landing.
