The Tolima Sports player tested positive for isometeptene, a stimulant banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada), in a test taken on November 21, 2018 after a match of the semifinals of the Clausura vs Independiente Tournament Medellin The sanction came into effect today and will end on November 30, although the time may be increased by the Disciplinary Commission of the Major Division of Colombian Soccer (Dimayor). Before the decision, Montero will not be able to be summoned for the friendly matches of Colombia against Chile and Algeria, which will be played in mid-October in Spain and France. If Tolima Sports does not qualify for the semi-final homers, the goalkeeper would not play again in the League this year, as the regular phase of the championship ends the weekend of November 2 and 3. The 24-year-old was one of the figures of the team in the conquest of the Colombian League title in the first half of last year after beating Atlético Nacional. With the coffee team, Montero received his first call in September last year and debuted on June 3 in a friendly against Panama in Bogota in which he replaced David Ospina in the second half.
