VW T-Sport: Polo crossover already shows its shapes

Volkswagen has already started rehearsing in Brazil the so-called New Urban Coupé Project. It is a crossover based on the MQB-A0 Platform, which will be positioned midway between the Polo offer and the T-Cross. The new model will be manufactured in Brazil from next year and will arrive in Argentina.

The photo published here shows a camouflaged test unit and was taken by the Carro Magazine, in Brazil. The image confirms what VW had already anticipated last August, in the form of sketches: the New Urban Coupé will be a crossover. That is to say: a vehicle with a body that will combine SUV floor clearance with Fastback roof [CENSORED]ture. It is what modern marketing defined by the strange name of "four-door coupe".

It will be a global model. The start of production in Brazil is planned for the first half of 2020, but later it will also be manufactured in Spain, to supply the European market. Everything indicates that your business name will be “T-Sport”. This name has not yet been confirmed by VW, but has already been registered as a trademark in Brazil.

It will be a more compact model than the T-Cross. While the SUV uses the Virtus wheelbase (2,651 mm), the T-Sport will have the same Polo battle (2,565 mm). In Brazil, at the moment, the only confirmed engine for this model would be the 1.0 TSi three-cylinder: it will deliver between 128 and 116 horsepower. The engine for Argentina has not yet been confirmed.

The T-Sport will add to a series of models inspired by more expensive products, such as the original BMW X6. In this same line, Renault already has the Arkana (see photos) and Fiat is very likely to follow the same aesthetic line with its Bull-based SUV
