For Israel it would be a mistake if the next government of Argentina got closer to Iran and Venezuela

But Mody Efraim, director for Latin America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, was blunt about what his country expects from bilateral relations: "We do not believe that Argentina should again make the mistake of having an approach with Iran and Venezuela. The Latin American director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel also has two more messages for the next Argentine government: the desire that he move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and that Brazil be infected with Argentina's decision to create a terrorist registry of Hezbollah as the government of Mauricio Macri and Paraguay already did.

The official highlighted the relations between Mauricio Macri and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but warned that "the economic crisis" in Argentina "undoubtedly affects the bilateral relationship." "We will see what will happen in the elections," he said.

On the decision of Argentina and Paraguay to characterize Hezbollah as a terrorist group, he considered that "it is very positive and is an important key step in the fight against organized crime; hopefully Brazil will follow the same path."

In turn, the Israeli official said that, beyond the outcome of the upcoming elections, "the alliance that exists between our countries and with a long history of friendship with Argentina will certainly remain." However, he referred to the possibility of a triumph of the candidate of the Frente de Todos, Alberto Fernández.

"It was a mistake to accept the memorandum with Iran (in the government of Cristina Kirchner) and several said Alberto Fernández is against it. We think the relationship will be good with any government. But we understand that the mistake should not be made again. of having an approach with Iran and Venezuela. Any approach on that line is not good. And you should get out of any line of that relationship, "he said.

On the other hand, the diplomatic official said that for Israel today it is "very important that Latin American countries have a pronouncement of the transfer of the capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as the United States, Honduras or Guatemala already did.
