From Frankfurt (Germany) - Every time we travel to visit the Frankfurt Motor Show, we take the opportunity to try some model of the market. Incidentally, that vehicle becomes the Autoblog Mobile in Europe, to cover other events during those weeks.

In 2015 it was the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Rural (read review). In 2017, the Porsche 911 GTS Targa 4 (read review). And this year?

Thanks to a combined management of the Communications areas of Volkswagen Germany and Argentina, Autoblog Mobile 2019 is an Arteon 2.0 TSi 4Motion.

And what is the Arteon? It is a sedan with sporty aesthetics for Segment D (medium).

Do you remember the Passat CC? It was that derivative of the conventional Passat, with a poorly defined body as a “four-door coupe”. That model was later called CC (dry, read criticism) and this third new evolution is called Arteon.

The Arteon is based on the current generation of Passat sold in Argentina (read review). It uses the same MQB Platform of several VW Group models, but has a unique design.

Let's not say "four-door coupe." This type of body has been around for more than 80 years and always had a much cooler (and less liar) name: "Fastback." That is the correct term to define the silhouette of a car has a single curve that integrates the roof and trunk travel. No matter how many doors: a fastback was the Ford Mustang of "Bullitt" and so is the Audi A5 Sportback.

VW Argentina has long analyzed the possibility of selling Arteon in our market. The study is based on the good results that the previous CC had (the acronym was for "Coupé Comfort").

In Europe, the Arteon is sold with gasoline and diesel engines, between 150 and 280 horsepower. The unit that is now in the German garage of Autoblog is the most “spicy”: it has a 2.0 turbonaftero engine (280 hp and 350 Nm), combined with automatic double clutch box (DSG 7) and all-wheel drive.

This unit with the Elegance equipment level costs 49,700 euros.

Is the Arteon better than the old CC? The full review will be published next week, but the conclusion is already espoileada in advance.

As everyone knows, nobody is better than ...

The VW Arteon 2.0 TSi DSG 4Motion Elegance costs 49,700 euros in Europe, but there are versions from 44 thousand euros.
