2019 Audi A6 OEM 7.jpg

An A6 for the masses? Not quite, but Audi’s mid-size sedan is getting a bit less expensive after an update for 2019 that bumps prices down considerably. Audi is lowering the price of the A6 courtesy of a new base engine. A 248-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is the new standard engine, lowering the sedan’s base price to $55,095, down from the previous base model’s $59,895 starting price (all prices include a destination charge).
The new engine should sound familiar; standard on the previous A6 was a 252-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four. In the 2019 model, the engine joins the 335-hp, turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 — and like the V-6, the four cylinder is paired with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive (the latter was optional on the previous A6).

Other standards on the new model include LED headlights, high-beam assist, lane departure warning, three-zone automatic climate control, heated eight-way power front seats with four-way power lumbar adjustment, and leather seating surfaces with contrast stitching on seats and dashboard. The revised MMI navigation system, which ditches the previous knob-based controller for a pair of touchscreens — is also standard.

The A6 2.0T will go on sale in the fall.
