An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale has shaken Mexico during the early hours of Friday, August 2, as reported by the National Seismological Service of the North American country. The epicenter of the earthquake has been located 3 kilometers north of the po[CENSORED]tion of Juan Rodríguez Clara, in the state of Veracruz, east of the country. It has also been felt in Oaxaca. The depth of the tremor has been 10 kilometers. Spokesmen for Civil Protection, Firefighters and Ambulance Service confirmed to Efe that there are no registered victims and that there was no significant material damage. The quake had a focal depth of 66 kilometers and occurred at 07.40 local time (04.40 GMT). Its epicenter was located about 23 kilometers west of the city of Heraklion, the capital of the largest island of Greece. "There will be few replicas because of the depth, and it is almost certain that it is the main earthquake," the director of the research center of the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory, Gerassimos Papadópulos, told ERT public television. In addition, he added that the tremor was not only felt throughout the island of Crete but also reached Santorini, in the southern Aegean Sea.
