The incident took place on the Francisco Fajardo highway, one of the main thoroughfares of Caracas.

The president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, arrested on Wednesday a group of armed civilians who tried to take members of his support and operative team. The information was released by the National Communication Center, the official information body, on his Twitter account. The incident took place on the Francisco Fajardo highway, one of the main thoroughfares of Caracas. The center explained that the men had long weapons and intended to transfer the members of the government team in charge to the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGIM). In the video that accompanies the information, it is seen when Guaidó talks with the subjects.

In a wheel of prey made hours later, Guaidó described the event as a "kidnapping" and detailed that civilians had "weapons of war". "We are not going to be intimidated, we immediately face the situation, we face questioning who gave the order, if there was some kind of order, or it was simply the persecution scheme, but there was no information," said Guaidó. On the identity of the men, the opposition leader indicated that "it could have been any element. (...) At no time were they formally identified." Guaidó asked not to get used to the "persecution scheme". "We are going to defend human rights, we are going to talk to civil and military officials so they can side with the Constitution," he added.

A similar incident occurred days after Guaidó assumed the presidency of the National Assembly, when officials of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN) detained him briefly and later released them.
