An earthquake registered of 4.6 degrees in El Salvador

 

• The tremor has taken place at 03:12 local time. The epicenter is 100 kilometers deep and 119 kilometers southeast of San Salvador

 

A tremor, which has reached 4.6 degrees on the Richter scale, has shaken El Salvador on Monday, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC, according to its acronym in English).

The earthquake took place at 03:12 local time. The epicenter has been located 100 kilometers deep and 119 kilometers southeast of San Salvador.

According to the testimonies collected by the EMSC, the earthquake has been "strong but short", or "strong enough to wake me up".

El Salvador: new 5.7-magnitude earthquake generates alarm

 

l Sunday, in the early hours of the morning, two earthquakes were recorded in the coastal area of the department of La Libertad.

The first occurred at 12:41 am, with a magnitude of 3.6 degrees. Its epicenter was recorded 56 km southwest of Playa La Zunganera, La Libertad and with a depth of 45 kilometers.

At 5:53 am, another one with a magnitude of 4.5 and a depth of 38 kilometers originated. Its epicenter was located 43 kilometers south of Playa El Sunzal in the same department.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the tremors are aftershocks of the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that occurred at dawn on May 30 that even generated a tsunami warning.
