Askor lml Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Neymar was left out of the Copa América due to the "seriousness" of the right ankle injury during the Brazilian Selecao friendly against Qatar, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) informed early on Thursday. "Due to the severity of the injury, Neymar will not have physical conditions or sufficient recovery time to participate in the Copa América Brasil 2019," the CBF said in a statement. The note notes that the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker suffered a "ligament tear in his right ankle." Seleçao's technical commission, he adds, will meet Thursday to discuss the appointment of a substitute for number 10. In a play disputed with a Qatari in the 17th minute, Neymar apparently stepped on false with his right foot and took a few seconds to get up. After complaining of pain, he limped off the field. He was treated on the bench by the doctor of the Selecao, Rodrigo Lasmar, and in the 20th minute he left the court to the dressing room, limping, with an ice pack on his ankle and helped by two men. He was replaced by Everton. 1
