Porsche Macan 2019, new engines and greater connectivity

In spite of not being a generational change, it presents great improvements that increase its sportsmanship.

Porsche launches the New Macan in Colombia, model that we had the opportunity to drive in Mallorca, Spain, a few months ago. It is a sports car of the compact SUV segment, which has been very successful since its launch in 2014. This model arrives in the country in two versions, with turbocharged gasoline engines.

One of them is 2.0 liters of four cylinders for the Macan and a V6 of 3.0 liters for the Macan S, that has turbo that is mounted in central position, between the banks of cylinders that form the V to facilitate a shorter route of the exhaust gases between the combustion chambers and the turbo, guaranteeing an extraordinary and immediate response.

The new double-entry turbocharger provides better response at low revs. With this technology, known as twin-scroll, the exhaust gases constantly feed the turbine with separate flows and thus significantly improve the load cycle. The evolved development of the geometry of the combustion chamber, with a central injector, achieves a very efficient preparation of the fuel mixture. This helps increase the power per liter from 113 to 118 horses, while decreasing gas emissions.

For its part, the 2.0 delivers 252 horsepower and a maximum torque of 370 Nm. With the optional Sport Chrono package and the PDK dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox, the Macan goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 227 km / h. The V6 offers 354 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque. With the same equipment, it takes 5.1 seconds to reach the hectometer and its top speed is 254 km / h.
Slight cosmetic changes

The changes of this model are not only in the engine, it includes improvements in design, which give it a more sporty and modern look. Several details reflect the DNA of the iconic 911 and 918 Spyder. In particular, the lighting section plays a key role since it is equipped with lights that carry LED technology.

This lighting system has a module with three-dimensional design that can be optimized with the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS), which automatically adapts the beam distribution. On the back stand a strip of three-dimensional LED lights and four-point brake lights.

Total connectivity

The Porsche Communication Management system, which now incorporates a 10.9 "HD screen, which is fully configurable, has an LTE connection, Apple Carplay that avoids traffic jams thanks to Waze applications and Google Maps.

 

 

The steering wheel is also new, it is multifunction and now adds circular control to select different driving modes, as well as the surprising Sport Response buton, which allows the driver to get the maximum performance for up to 20 seconds with just pressing it, a function that discourages To anybody.
More confortable

The chassis was improved to increase comfort and make the car more fun to drive. The Macan is characterized by the use of wheels of different width for the front and rear axles. As with Porsche's two-door sports cars, this configuration allows the driver to take full advantage of the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) intelligent integral traction system. Newly developed wheels with superior performance get a better dynamic rolling behavior, which increases the driving pleasure, while the renewed wheels range from the 18-inch series to the optional 21-inch.
Improved brakes

The brakes of the Macan were worked on, especially in the feel of the pedal. This pedal weighs about 300 grams less than the previous steel and acts on the brake pump more directly. With this, the response is more immediate and, in addition, the driver can feel very precisely the pressure point. The even more sporty approach of the new Macan S can be appreciated in larger front brakes, with discs that increased their diameter by 10 millimeters to reach 360 mm. The thickness increased two millimeters and was 36 mm. The new pills do not have copper. The Macan S can also be equipped with the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake ceramic brake system (PCCB).

New exterior colors

The 'Blue Miami', the 'Green Mamba Metallized', the 'Silver Dolomite Metallized' and the 'Chalk' combined with interior packages that are also new, ensure that there is no Macan identical to another, taking the issue of personalization to another level.
