[Review] Dragon Ball Xenoverse

Dragon Ball Xenoverse (officially abbreviated as Dragon Ball XV) is a video game based on the Dragon Ball media franchise. It is available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Xenoverse is also the first Dragon Ball game released in some of the eighth generation of game consoles, as well as PC.

playability

The battles are located in fully 3D destructible environments. Fighters can go from fighting in an open world, with very large spaces to fight on a platform, go in the air and even underwater. Xenoverse has dialogues as fights develop, and fighters show facial expressions when they hit an opponent or take damage. Players have some freedom to explore planet earth as it exists in the Dragon Ball universe along with a handful of other places, including a mysterious new city: The city "Toki Toki", which is the point of origin for the new character of game.

The new character is created by the player. With character customization, players can now choose a race, gender, head shape, physique and clothing. Characters personalized by the player for the story mode can have any of the five race types: Saiyajin, Earthling, Majin, Namekian and the Freezer race. Players can visit the futuristic city of Tokitoki, meet other players and take a cooperative, travel in time.

The PS4 and Xbox one versions of Dragon Ball: Xenoverse also include unique gameplay features suited to this generation of consoles such as enhanced graphics. Players can also become apprentices to the original Dragon Ball anime characters to equip more than 200 special moves and 450 costume items. The game also makes use of skills similar to the Budokai series. Players also have the ability to load Ki, allowing a Super extra slot. It is also offered for the multiplayer split screen game (Local Cooperative).

Universal Mode:

The story begins in the Toki Toki City, where we will meet face to face with Trunks of the Future. There we must create our own character, and when we finish all the changes, Trunks, the leader of the temporary patrol, will recruit us to fight. Once recruited by Trunks, the player will have to remember all the moments in the history of Dragon Ball participating in them, because some secret magic has been altering the order and, consequently, the villains become more powerful. The temporary flow of space-time and the original story of Dragon Ball will totally change, and the Dragon Balls will be in serious danger.

Versus mode:

Like many other deliveries, the game gives the possibility to choose one or several characters and be able to fight against the machine, against a second player, or even to observe a combat between the machine. A novelty of the game, is that players can be chosen up to a maximum of 6 characters available, thus increasing the capacity compared to Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and in addition, you can use the character created by the player to fight . A new addition included is that you can play even 3 players against 3 other players simultaneously, which gives the possibility of planning strategies between the same team and to defeat enemies.

Multiplayer mode:

This mode will allow us to play a game online with other players, where we will start in the Toki Toki City (which will be the meeting point of all players). This mode will be similar to Dragon Ball Online, since we can meet other races and we will even have to advance in level to learn new techniques.

Editor: The editor is a magnificent novelty implemented in this video game. This functionality will allow us to create a character among the races Human, Namekiano, Majin, Saiyajin and Race of Frieza. (intercalating also if we want our warrior to be male or female). In multiplayer, the editor has more than 480 different items and more than 230 super attacks to place our character. We can also choose our "master" to help us get new techniques.

Plot

Unlike previous games in the series that usually follow the story of Dragon Ball, "Xenoverse" will present a whole new story, including a character created from the player never seen before in the franchise. The 2014, which announces the game, draws attention with a mysterious figure observing the first battle between Goku and Vegeta from the shadows. With red hair, a tracker, and the Capsule Corporation logo on the sleeve, the identity of this character was not clear. Although after a while it was revealed that this warrior is in fact a created character, thus confirming the creation of character for Dragon Ball Xenoverse. The story takes place from the Saiyan saga to the saga of the Battle of the Gods.

There are also evil versions of some characters like Gohan, Vegeta, Gotenks, Kid Buu, Cell and Frieza. Some characters like Mira, and Towa are shared with another video game called Dragon Ball heroes, because both games have things in common, but they are focused on different strategies.

Some characters like the Ozaru (giant apes) can not be chosen for their handling, you can only face them.

Developing

Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, abbreviated as Dragon Ball XV, is the 15th Dragon Ball fighting game released on home consoles since Dimps first Dragon Ball Z: Budokai game, and the first fighting game developed by Dimps to offer full of similar 3D battles to the Budokai Tenkaichi series of video games. It was originally known as Dragon Ball New Project, until the actual title was unveiled on June 10, 2014.
