Shaun Edwards confirms he will not become head coach of Wigan Warriors following Rugby World Cup

haun Edwards, the Wales defence coach, has confirmed that he will not be joining Wigan Warriors as head coach following the Rugby World Cup later this year.

Edwards had previously agreed to join his former club following Wales' Rugby World Cup campaign in Japan last this year.

Reports over the weekend suggested that Edwards would continue in his role with Wales under the new coaching set-up led by incoming Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac, who will replace Warren Gatland.

”After much thought and deliberation, I wish to clarify my situation. I will not be taking up the Head Coaching role at Wigan, the reason being my lack of preparation," Edwards said in a joint statement with Wigan.
