Is a role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix in 2006/2007 for the PlayStation 2, being the twelfth installment in the acclaimed series of video games. Launched in 2006, five years after Final Fantasy X.1 Final Fantasy XII introduces substantial changes in the series: battles that do not change the scenario, the gambit system that automatically controls the actions of the characters, and the licensing system that determines what equipment and skills the characters can use.2 3 Final Fantasy XII includes elements of previous deliveries, such as the invocations, 3 the Chocobos, 4 and the flying ships.2 The game has been acclaimed universally with very positive reviews and has been chosen game of the year by important and prestigious magazines of the sector. The sequel, Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, has been released for Nintendo DS in 2007 in Japan5 and 2008 for the rest of the world. This game is developed in Ivalice, as are other Square games such as Final Fantasy Tactics for PlayStation, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GameBoy Advance and Vagrant Story for PlayStation. The team that has developed all the games mentioned above is the same, hence there are certain similarities in their setting. The cities now have a Mediterranean / European touch mixed with Arab aesthetics, which gives rise to crowded places and bazaars where technology is reserved for the ships.

Combat

system The new combat system is called ADB (Active Battle Dimension) and there are no random encounters with enemies as in previous deliveries of Final Fantasy. This time the enemies can be visualized in real time on the ground, some of them have a peaceful character and do not attack unless they are attacked previously; others, on the other hand, are more aggressive and attack as soon as they detect a hostile presence through their senses. In addition, magics such as Libra have become field magic; instead of showing the statistics of a single enemy, it lasts a while during which it shows the Hp and the weaknesses of any enemy that we select with any member of the active group, apart, it also influences the field of play, since it is necessary to detect the "traps" that exist in the game, some species of mines that are activated by land contact. During the battle there is freedom of movement for the leader of the group and you can even abandon the group combat. System of Gambits (Tactics) It incorporates a system of gambits by which you can choose between controlling the characters manually or leave their control to the AI of the game, which will automatically control according to the gambits that the character in question has activated. A Gambit is made up of two parts: The first is the condition and the second is the action. For example, if an ally is below 40% of your maximum HP, give him a potion. If a character has two active gambits, the first will have priority over the second. In addition, you can enter new orders manually even if the gambits are activated, you only have to wait until the action bar that each character has is filled again. These Gambits are very important to advance in the game, because if you design your strategy well, an impossible battle can become a really easy one. Types of Gambits: Goals: To a single character, but without condition. To any ally character that meets the condition (Less than a percentage of VIT, altered states, etc.). To any enemy, without special conditions. To an enemy that meets a condition (No damage, that flies, below the VIT, etc.). Actions: Use an object Use a technique Attack. Use magic (white, black, green, esoteric or space-time).

Magic

As in all Final Fantasy, magic is present. Receiving the name of "Magicks", we can find different types: White magic (White magic): The magic of healing and holy attack, special against the undead. Healing magic for a single ally like "Cure" or "Curaga", or for several allies like "Curaja" or "Renew". To himself, magic to revive the fallen (Raise, Araise) and holy attack, as "Holy" (Holy). The white magic, special to cure the HP of the allies, as well as eliminate all negative status (Esuna eliminates all negative state (except some), but there are magic for each one, like "Poison" for poison) is also ideal for damaging undead enemies. Black Magic (Dark Magic): Elemental magic of attack, such as Fire (Piro), Blizzard (Ice), Aero, Bio, Shock, Flare, Ardor, Scathe, among others. Spatial-temporal magic (Time Magic): Time magic is ideal to modify the state of our characters or enemies, as well as the battle itself, giving us a great advantage; some of their magic allow us for example to increase the speed of action of our characters ("Haste"); having the Final Fantasy XII a new system of game in real time, this allows us to accelerate the time in which our heroes perform their actions. Magic Green (Green Magic): It is magic that is responsible for alterations of state. In this section you can find: Protect for physical damage (Shell), Shell, for magical damage (Shield), etc. Esoteric Magic (Arcane Magic): Attack magic that is not based on the basic elements, such as dark based attacks, absorption of HP and PM and so on. Techniques The techniques are special skills that do not require MP consumption. They provide different skills and results. Some of them are: Libra: Reveals information about enemies, such as life and weakness. However, it does not work on Rare Beasts, Slags or Chiefs. Recharge: Allows you to load an amount of PM. However, if it fails it reduces the PM to 0. First Aid: Cures a small amount of VIT to an ally in a state of "agony" (low vitality) Steal: Allows you to steal objects from an enemy.

Poaching: Capture an enemy in agony and take away his objects. Abacus: Attack that is increasing if it is still used for several shifts (unless it is failed). White Staff: Attack that can only be executed when the character is in blindness. Achilles: Adds an elemental weakness to the enemy. Long Range: Even if you carry a short-range weapon like a dagger or sword, you attack as if you were carrying a bow. Rompebrazo: Decreases the strength of the enemy. Licensing system This system is very similar to the Final Fantasy X spheres board, and definitely ended with the tendency in Final Fantasy VII to give each character a unique and characteristic weapon. It is also a board, with the difference that AP is no longer used to move, but that we can only access and know positions adjacent to squares that we have already bought. These boxes are purchased with license points (LP) obtained by defeating enemies. Each box has a value, the box being generally the better the more expensive it is. The primary use of these boxes is to allow equip different weapons and objects, since you can only equip those objects that your licenses allow. This becomes the "half" of being able to equip an object, since you need to activate them to be able to equip them, in addition to buying them. With the magic and skills the system is similar. We must take into account the various possibilities that we can choose according to our likes
