Grand Theft Auto V (abbreviated as GTA V or GTA5) is an open-world action-adventure video game developed by the British company Rockstar North and distributed by Rockstar Games. It was released on September 17, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.4 consoles. Subsequently, it was released on November 18, 2014 for the new generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles with better graphics and interesting new features such as first person view and finally for Microsoft Windows on April 14, 2015. It was the first grand title in the Grand Theft Auto series since the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008, which premiered the "was HD" of the aforementioned series of video games.

5 The first information was revealed by Rockstar Games on October 25, 2011 on the social network Twitter.6 The game is set in the fictional city of Los Santos, as well as in the surrounding areas, based in the city of Los Angeles and Southern California. The city was also the setting for the previous GTA game: San Andreas. For the first time the game would focus on three different characters instead of just one: Michael, Trevor and Franklin, in addition to the character that the player uses in online mode. The premiere trailer for Grand Theft Auto V was unveiled on November 2, 2011.7 It is the second most expensive game in history, with an expenditure of 265 million dollars, surpassing its predecessor GTA IV -100 million dollars- and being surpassed only by Destiny. However, Grand Theft Auto V raised 800 million dollars in the first 24 hours of its premiere, which made it the videogame that had raised more money in less time in all history; and had raised in a 3 days a record amount of 1000 million dollars in sales.

 

Nine years after a frustrated robbery in Ludendorff (North Yankton), which left one of its perpetrators dead, another under arrest and forced a third to go underground, the former bank robber, Michael Townley, was presumed dead in North Yankton and has been placed under witness protection by the corrupt agent of the FIB Dave Norton, a close friend of the same, moving him and his family to Los Santos (San Andreas) with a new identity: "Michael De Santa". Franklin Clinton, who works as a vehicle grantee at a car dealership, along with his friend Lamar Davis, is asked to recover a vehicle belonging to Michael's son, Jimmy, who is late in paying for his acquisition. Deducting that his son is about to become a victim of credit fraud, Michael hides in the vehicle and confronts Franklin. When he drives on the way to the dealership, forces him to crash the car against the shop window. Clinton is fired, but he and De Santa become friends.9 Later, when Michael discovers his wife Amanda in bed with his tennis coach Kyle Chavis, he and Franklin chase him to a mansion, which Michael destroys with fury.

To his bad luck, the property belongs to Natalia Zverovna, the mistress of Mexican drug trafficker Martin Madrazo, a woman who happened to be a student of the aforementioned coach. Iracundo, Madrazo locates De Santa and demands compensation. They agree to pay their debt through the money obtained from a theft to a branch of the Vangelico jewelry chain. Trevor Philips, the other survivor of the robbery in Ludendorff, finds out about the robbery watching television. At that moment he realizes that the author could not be other than Townley himself, recognizing him by a phrase he said the day of the initial robbery. That's when he breaks into the life of his ex-partner, after having followed the trail to The Santos.

Meanwhile, the protagonists' personal lives start to get out of control. The unexpected reappearance of Trevor triggers reckless and erratic behavior in Michael Townley, prompting his family to leave home. Likewise, Michael's attempts to do something in life take him to Devin Weston, a multimillionaire venture capitalist and corporate raider, who develops resentment against him. Franklin is disturbed by the way Lamar falls under the influence of Harold "Stretch" Joseph, a gangster who defected to the Families' band during his imprisonment, passing to the enemy (the Ballas) and repeatedly tries to kill Lamar to prove himself to his new allies.

For his part, Trevor makes his efforts to consolidate his power and control over the methamphetamine market in Blaine County, after having revealed himself against the motorcycle gang The Lost, the Mexicans Varrios Los Aztecas, the Salvadorans La Marabunta Grande, traffickers of local methamphetamine, mercenaries hired by the government and against a triad led by Wei Cheng, one of the most important figures in the Chinese underworld. As the plot progresses, Michael is forced by the agents of the FIB, Dave Norton and his partner Steve Haines, to carry out a series of operations with Clinton and Philips in order to undermine a rival agency, the IAA. Under orders from Haines, the trio attacks the IAA building, steal an armored truck with funds destined for the IAA and assault a bank that contains the payroll of all corrupt police officers and public officials of The Santos.

However, during this Michael and Trevor are forced to hide temporarily in Blaine County after Philips kidnapped Madrazo's wife after not receiving compensation for doing a job for him. Since Steve is under increasing investigation for his methods, he forces the group to enter the headquarters of the FIB and erase any evidence of his servants that may be used against him. Michael has the opportunity to erase all the data of his own activities in the process, destroying all of Haines' blackmail about him. After convincing Trevor to return Madrazo's wife, they begin to make plans for the biggest blow they can ever imagine: raid the Union Depository gold bullion stock.
